1. Tell us a little bit about yourself – What drew you to orthopedic surgery?

I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and went to college at Texas A&M University. I completed PA school at UT Health Science Center San Antonio and have worked in orthopedics for the past 11 years.

I chose to complete an orthopedic PA fellowship training program for additional training in general orthopedics and sports medicine. I have always loved orthopedics because we have the privilege of helping our patients get back to their regular activities after an injury. Seeing their progress from start to finish is rewarding and is what has drawn me to the specialty.

Orthopedics is my passion because I grew up being active, playing sports, and continue an active lifestyle. In our specialty, patients are motivated and hardworking, allowing our team approach to foster healing, recovery, and restoration of function. I love what I do and am lucky to have the opportunity to work in a profession that provides challenges and variety every day.

2. Why did you join the team at CCOE?

I chose to join CCOE because of the culture and patient-centered approach to care. Providing high-quality patient-centered care through a team approach is at the core of what I believe is most important in treatment.

I also feel very fortunate to have been able to join Dr. Hollis’ team because he is an excellent surgeon, leader, and truly cares for all his patients.

3. What advice would you give patients who are eager to get out and get moving as the weather gets nicer?

Moving from Texas has made me appreciate the beautiful weather and outdoor activities that can be performed almost year-round in Colorado.

I advise slowly working into the activities that you desire and not doing everything at once in your first session. The importance of warming up, stretching, and listening to your body is essential as we all embark on new activities.

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, biking, and running. I have always loved running, but this year my husband and I wanted to change things up, so we signed up for our first half ironman in October. We are now swimming, biking, and running and this has been a great way for us to add variety to our training program. We are also still exploring the beauty of Colorado on weekends.
